As someone who has had the privilege of contributing to anthologies and sharing my stories with readers, I can tell you that every bit of support matters. Whether you’re cheering on a bestselling author or someone like me who is still building her writing journey, your encouragement makes a difference.
Buy the Book (If You Can)
Of course, purchasing a book is one of the most direct ways to support an author. Every sale helps demonstrate reader interest and can open doors to future opportunities.

Whether it’s a virtual book launch, a local bookstore signing, or an online author chat, showing up matters. Authors appreciate seeing readers engage with their work and celebrate their accomplishments.
Follow and Engage
Following an author on social media is wonderful, but engagement is even better. Like their posts. Leave comments. Share their content. Every interaction helps increase visibility and reach new readers.
Gift Books to Friends
Books make wonderful gifts. When you discover a title you love, consider purchasing a copy for a friend, family member, teacher, or fellow book lover.
Not only are you supporting the author, but you’re also helping spread a love of reading.
Recommend Books in Book Clubs
Book clubs are fantastic for authors. Suggesting a favorite title for your next discussion can introduce dozens of new readers to an author’s work.
Encourage the Writer in Your Life
Sometimes the greatest gift isn’t financial at all—it’s encouragement.
Writing can be a lonely journey filled with self-doubt. A simple message saying, “I loved your story,” “Your words inspired me,” or “I can’t wait to read what you write next” can mean more than you realize.
