I will be reviewing this book soon. But I wanted to share this book with you. When my oldest was a baby, I was a working mom and was often made to feel guilty because I had to work. When the other two girls came along, I was lucky enough to be able to stay home with them until the youngest went to preschool and I went back to work, so I see both sides of the conversation, stay at home moms vs. working moms.
A working mother reassures her child that even when they’re apart,
they’re always in each other’s hearts in:
In My Heart
by debut author Mackenzie Porter, illustrated by Jenny Løvlie
According to the US Department of Labor, 70 percent of mothers with children under 18 are working moms, with over 75 percent employed full-time.
In Mackenzie Porter’s powerful debut IN MY HEART (Little Simon | On Sale March 10, 2020) she explores the bond between mother and child. This much-needed board book is perfect for working moms everywhere.
About the book:
Though we’re not together we’re never truly apart, because you’re always on my mind and you’re always in my heart. This is what a mother tells her child as she leaves for work each day. This lovely board book perfectly captures the sentiment that many women feel about being a working mom. The lyrical text takes us through a mother’s day away, demonstrating that although she’s working hard, her child is always on her mind and always in her heart.
Grab this book here. It doesn’t release in hardcover until March 10 but you can buy it for your Kindle. It is up to you but I think I will wait for the hardcover because there is something to be said about cuddling with your child, holding a book in your hand and watching your child’s eyes light up.
