Start Your Summer Reading By Celebrating These Legendary Latinx Authors

Broaden your reading list with some incredible Latinx literature during National Latino Authors Month, celebrated every May to expand the representation of Latinx authors! This month is a great way to ease into summer reading assignments by exploring new interests and writers.

According to a survey of 7,000 U.S. authors, run by Zippia, only 7.2% of authors are Latinx. On top of that, Latinx writers are largely dismissed when it comes to literary achievements.  Since its inauguration in 1901, the Nobel Prize for literature has only been offered to a Latin American author 6 times – the first award not coming until 1945.

These are only a couple of the numerous factors signaling misrepresentation in this field, and important stats to spotlight during a month of appreciation.

That’s why Brainly, the leading digital homework help, and education platform, has come up with a list of 7 trailblazing Latinx authors everyone should be familiar with.

>> Laura Esquivel – Science Fiction, Fantasy
Try reading: Como agua para chocolate (Like Water for Chocolate)
