My two oldest daughters with my dad, their grampie. They got their love of books from him. He was always seen with a book in hand. Sadly we lost him at the beginning of this year.

My two oldest daughters with my dad, their grampie. They got their love of books from him. He was always seen with a book in hand. Sadly we lost him at the beginning of this year.

When my girls were little I loved to read with them and to them. There was nothing better than to snuggle up with my girls in a warm bed and read. This past week of snow and cold weather made me nostalgic for the times when my girls were small. Hard to believe that they have grown up to be beautiful young ladies. This year they will turn 20, 17 and 13.  That got me thinking and looking for the books that they loved in their childhood. It took some hunting for one of them, because I couldn’t remember the exact name but I did remember a character in the book. So I thought I would share my girls’ favorite childhood books with you.

moe monster

What Does Moe Monster Hear (Wiggly Eye Board Books)

This was my oldest daughter’s and my nephew’s favorite book when they were babies. ( They were born just 5 weeks apart from each other.) She loved Moe Monster and could read this book almost by herself because she had it read to her so many times. But no matter how many times she read it she was still surprised when Moe Monster got his ice cream cone.

puppy peek a boo

Puppy Peek-A-boo (Peek-a-Board Books)

This was a favorite of all three of my girls. They would hunt to  find the puppy hidden on every page. Even though they read the book so many times before they would still giggle when they “found” puppy on the page.

little women

Little Women

I remember when my oldest was in 4th or 5th grade we spent quite a few months reading this classic at night before bed. She and I would take turns reading to each other. I loved this one on one time with her. (Sigh now she is in college and I hardly ever get to see her.)

magic tree house

The Magic Tree House Series

Gracie. my youngest, loved this series. For the longest time these were the only books she would read. She loved how in almost every book there was an animal of some sort. She is my future vet you know.

goodnight moon

Goodnight Moon

Who doesn’t love that book? And the bunny was by far the best part.

These are just a few books that I can recall from my girls’ childhood that stand out in my mind. What books were your favorites to read to and with your children when they were younger?
