The Pizza Hut BOOK IT! Program is celebrating their 32nd year by offering two free Kindle books to parents of BOOK IT! readers – Mercy Watson to the Rescue by Kate DiCamillo and Maisy Goes to the Library by Lucy Cousins. An audiobook version of Mercy Watson to the Rescue is also available for download from Audible for free.
Parents can access the free books by visiting bookitprogram.com/amazon. This is in partnership with Candlewick Press and Listening Library.
Also, Pizza Hut is launching the BOOK IT! Page Turner Grant Program will give away 32 grants totaling $50,000 to applicants who are making a positive impact in their community by enabling access, empowering teachers and inspiring readers.
BOOK IT! will recognize individuals, organizations, children, adults and educators who are committed to promoting literacy and reading in their communities. Applications for The Page Turner Grants can be submitted at BOOKITProgram.com starting today, National BOOK IT! Day, until Nov. 30. Winners will be announced in early-January.
Roughly 1 in 5 people in the U.S. have taken part in the BOOK IT! Program — that’s more than 65 million students since 1984, with more than 14 million participating this year alone.
