The Book of Kringle – Legend of the North Pole, by Derek Velez Partridge with Mary Packard is not your everyday Christmas story. Instead of all the reds and greens that are normally in children’s Christmas books. The illustrations were a little scary for children. But don’t let keep you from the redeeming quality of this book. But before I tell you anymore, here is a brief summary of the book.
In a magical land on top of the world, an epic struggle between light and darkness was waged between two brothers. King Kringle ruled with a harsh hand over the Elves of the North Pole, allowing no laughter, no play and no Christmas celebration. There was only one truly kindhearted soul who could make a difference and change the course of the world. Would the Elves be able to find Santa and bring laughter and joy to the land?
I do love that the main idea behind this book is a lesson on greed. It reminds us what the real reason for the Christmas season is. And that is – giving back. Because the way it feels to give is better than any gift we will ever receive.
I will have to say I have not seen Kris Kringle aka Santa Claus portrayed quite like this. And did you know that he had brothers? And that one was pure evil. If you are looking for a nontraditional story behind Santa Claus than The Book of Kringle – Legend of the North Pole, by Derek Velez Partridge with Mary Packard is the book for you.
