1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I like food – ALL of it. The best thing about being a writer is my readers – I’m so serious, I love every single one of them! The worst thing about burns is that they seem to take forever to stop hurting. I’d rather get a huge cut than a tiny burn. A hobby I’d desperately love to take up (but don’t have the guts to try) is acting. I think it’d be so exhilarating to try being someone else. But I giggle too much. I love writing for this reason. I can giggle all I want and still write someone else.
2. All of the books in this series are about each sister in a family, what gave you the idea to do that?
This series spins off from my Lonely Lace series where the bad guy is Devlyn Caracus. Well, Devlyn’s daughters (all 5 of them) are where this series (Redemption series) came from. In all of my work, I seek out the multidimensional villain and Devlyn had a horrible path he burned everywhere he went. I figured he must have left survivors of some kind out there. And he did. Daughters. And they’re all seeking redemption of some kind.
3. Do you ever experience writer’s block?
I honestly don’t believe in writer’s block. Writing is just like exercising (or working, or reading, or eating right, or *fill in the verb*) – if you stop doing it, you don’t see the benefits and it becomes harder to get back to. When life hits you with stress, like new babies, moving, divorce, marriage, whatever, it’s customary to take time off work or take a break from your *verb*. Well, writing is the same thing. You can take a break and oftentimes you need a break. It’s okay to take a break, in fact, writers should be taking breaks. They need a chance to get excited about their work again, rediscover their passion. Every time I read a great book or see a phenomenal movie, I feel invigorated to get back to it. But that’s for me. I do believe others experience their own form of what they define as writer’s block. I just don’t apply that to me. 🙂
4. What do you do when you aren’t writing?
Wishing I was sleeping. No, *chuckle* I’m just kidding, sort of… I actually have 6 kids and I homeschool them. They like to read and write themselves so when we’re not doing busy-stuff, we’re usually playing games or spending time together. I adore my family, so for now, they get my time when I’m not at the computer.
5. What was your favorite chapter (part) of the book to write?
When Jesse met his mother for the first time. I’ve been there (not with my mom, but with my biological father) and I remember the excitement and the nerves that he wouldn’t like me. It took a friendly reminder from someone before meeting him that he left me. Not the other way around, and it was HIS loss. Jesse needed that too. He needed to see that he was better than anything his mother could have ever wished for and it was her loss for abandoning him because of his condition at birth. Jesse was a challenge to write, but I enjoyed every moment of it.
Thank you so much for having me. These are great questions! Thank you for taking the time to ask them and to have me here today.
