Impatience Excerpt

Aaron went to the other side of her bed, putting the back of his hand to her forehead before letting it fall back to his side. “You’re looking excellent, and you feel good, as well.” His touch did funny things to her heart. She hoped the numbers didn’t show how much he affected her. “Thank you for that and the entire saving my life rescue last night.” Mandy took his hand and squeezed. “Words will never be enough.”

He grinned, interlacing his fingers with hers. “I have an idea or two when you’re home and feeling better.”Her mom stood and cleared her throat.  “Yes, well, I’ll give you two some privacy.” Aaron frowned at Mandy before saying, “There’s no need to, Mrs. Hays.” She smiled at him. “It’s ok. I’m due for a drink and bathroom break.” Karen pulled the door shut behind her.Mandy laughed. “Mom thinks you mean something other than chocolate cake or pancakes.”
